Proms in the Park and Rugby World Cup

As you may know this weekend Australia played Wales in the Rugby World Cup. The game was played in Cardiff. I think every Aussie who lives in London was heading over to the game.

Accommodation was hard to come by, so we figured why not make it a day trip. Well, a very long day trip...

7.30am train leaving London with Pete W and Fiona. The train was packed with Gold jerseys.

We arrived in Cardiff around 10am, so decided to see the sights.

The game was awesome. Final score was 32-20. Australia won and the Welsh singing made for a great atmosphere.

Afterwards we hit the pubs and clubs for a drink and a dance. And finally around midnight, our transport home arrived. A stretch Hummer! Equipped with disco lights, smoke machine, sub woofers and champagne! No photos of inside have yet been released to the public....

Proms in the Park was last weekend. Lots of singing, lots of English flags and plenty of British pride on display. A bit like Symphony in The Domain with with sing a alongs.

Tori Amos concert

Tower bridge opening for a boat cruise on the Thames Sarah was on for a work function.

Scotland with Mum and Dad

We spent 3 days in the Scottish highlands with Mum (Jenny) and Dad (Bruce). The panoramic above was taken from the top of Old Man Storr (you can see Sarah sitting on the ground on the right hand side).

We travelled over to the Isle of Skye to view climb Old Man Storr - the view was quite spectacular!

This is Pete walking up through the trees to the peak.

We stopped in a small town called Portree (Port Righ - The Kings Port). We woke up early one morning and there were real fisherman unloading crabs on the dock.

The row of coloured buildings lining the harbour was very picturesque.

We went for lunch at an old house / castle in "Flurgenburgendurgen" (we don't know how to spell it but it sounded like that??)

Dad was happy with his beer and seafood chowder.

This is the Kilt Rocks.

We met some locals (Scottish hairy cows) on the way...
Eileen Doonan castle (as seen in Highlander the movie). The castle was good but we don't recommend the movie.

Testing the water temp at Broadford ("charmless" - as quoted by the travel guide)

Plonkton was a beautiful little town on a bay - we stopped there for lunch.

Loch Ness (in case you didn't get Pete's sign language)

Fort George

Back in London, at the Horse Guards...

....picnic in St James park...

...and in front of the famous Piccadilly lights (Sarah's company owns them).

We saw Les Mis....

and We Will Rock You - yes, it rocked!!

Jenny and Bruce are now travelling through France, Switzerland and Italy, having a great time. They will be back through London next week...
