May in London

It has been a busy month. So much to see over here, we are trying to fit in as much as possible! The first half of the month was beautiful with hot sunny weather, we thought we were back in Sydney. The last half has been cold and wet, ah, so this is what London can be like.

Picnic in Green Park. We were there to watch the London marathon, but as you can see there was not much watching going on!

A trip to see Chicago. Tina Arena was playing Roxy, she has an amazing voice.

We decided to have a dinner party at our flat. Sarah chose the main course from her new Jaime Oliver cook book. We spent the morning at Borough markets (where Jaime shops) and then needed to stop on the way home to buy this huge Le Creuset pot to cook it all in.

Ed, Fi, Pete, Lani and Pete.

We did a trip down to Portsmouth to visit Lani and Ed. We walked around the harbour in the afternoon and then stayed with them overnight before heading to the Isle of Wight.

Our chosen vehicle for the weekend - a Mini Cooper. Lots of fun. This is our Mini on the ferry over to the Isle of Wight.

We visited Pete's Aunty Jo. Had some fun times and fantastic meals with all the cousins. We did a lap around the Island in the Mini. Lots of windy roads that Pete enjoyed driving along while Sarah held on tight...

Stayed tuned for our June instalment!

Valencia, Spain

Hi Everyone!

Wow - we just realised that it has been almost a month since our last entry!

A lot has happened since then but in summary we're really starting to settle in and feel at home here.

So here it is... our blog about our trip to Valencia:

We visited Valencia for the weekend of 5th-8th May - that's right, a very long weekend!

Whilst we were there Pete's cousin's Riff, Tom and Humphrey, along with their families Lucy, Luke, Millie, Sam, Hatty, Tabitha and Penny, took great care of us and made us feel really at home - thanks guys!

Here's Pete with Luke.

On Day 1 we did some walking around the old city of Valencia - here's Sarah with Tom and Lucy out the front of the clay museum.

Obviously we couldn't miss the America's Cup. Pete, Riff and Hump checked out some of the model boats.

We were lucky enough (thanks to some great connections) to have access to some fantastic venues. This is the official Cup building. We went for lunch at the rooftop bar.
This is a picture of the crew just before lunch.
...and this is the view from the deck of the bar, looking over the purpose built canal that takes the boats from their Team HQ's to the race course.
Lunch was fantastic and even had a boating 'flavour' (note the tuna 'sail'!)

Tom got us onto the official media boat for a day of racing on Monday. We were right up close to the action! (below is the boat from Sweden)

It was awesome to watch, especially the starts when the boats were hustling for the line. This race is Sweden vs Spain.

After a tough day out on the water, we relaxed with a few drinks at the port side bar.

On our last day we hired a car and drove south. On our way we found some great beaches - we stopped at Denia for a drink at the bar on the beach!

For lunch we drove out to the peninsular at Cap de la Nau - it was beautiful!

There was a restaurant right at the tip, with a courtyard perched out on the cliff...

...where we met a few of the locals...

...and had some traditional Valencian Paella!

Loved Valencia! Great food, wine, sunshine, family, beaches and boats.

Adeos!
